Every year for the past 5 years, I promised myself that I
will get the site up and running, and not just upload a
half-assed job.
This domain name has belonged to me for well over 7 years now
- that's a long time sitting around doing nothing. Here is a
lowdown…..
• 1999 - Domain bought as a joke about masculinity in
gay men - they claim to have it but are ultimately too camp
for their own good.
• 2000 - Email accounts were created for a small handful
of friends & 'net buddies. Opened to the public Early
2000 which caused about 5000 people to take up a
@bigqueen.org email address. Ads were placed; pop3 providers
sought & world domination seemed not too far away. Then
the "bubble" burst...
• 2000-2002 - Attempted to create a queer media portal
focused on nerdy, sexy & fun stuff instead of the usual
AIDS propoganda or glorious grabs from the likes of Gaydar
& Gay.com. Failed miserably due to my own lack of
interest.
• 2003-2004 - The domain went into hibernation mode
& I merely continued to use the email address for myself
and 1 or 2 friends. Until one day I had an inspiration...
• 2005 - Today is a new day, what's in store for this
site? I decided to share my domain and its webspace with
people who would want it. I spent a year in limbo and
deciding how it would work, and whether anyone would like the
idea.
• 2006 -? Now that the site is live (and working) I am
opening the doors to people who may want to utilise the
services offered. As an .org , these are free based on
community spirit – will end up costing me money but I
just don’t care.
